Desperado

Desperado ('desperate' in Spanish — this an old usage of the word, today desesperado is far more common) means a violent and reckless person who performs some spectacular feats.

• Desperado was a heavy metal band, formed by Dee Snider in 1988.

• Desperado was a videogame developed by the Japanese company Capcom in 1986.

• Desperado is also the title of the second album by The Eagles. "Desperado" is the name of a song on the album, that was later covered by country artists including Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Johnny Cash, Lynn Anderson, Clint Black, Johnny Rodriguez, Linda Ronstadt and Kenny Rogers.

• Desperado is a 1995 film that starred Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek and that was directed by Robert Rodriguez.

• Actor Alex McArthur starred as a Western drifter named Duell McCall in the 1987 NBC television series "Desperado" and its three sequels. McArthur would later appear on an episode of Seinfeld as Elaine Benes' yuppie boyfriend Brett. Whenever the Eagles' song Desperado played on the radio, Brett would pause and be entranced, a comedic play on his former character Duell McCall.

• The Desperado roller coaster stands at Buffalo Bill's casino in Primm, Nevada, once the tallest, fastest and steepest hypercoaster in the world.

• Desperado is a song by Alice Cooper, appearing on the album Killer (album). Cooper stated it was written about his friend, Jim Morrison, who died the same year the album was released.

• Desperado is a song by Westlife, appearing on the album Face to Face

• Desperado is a Norwegian Hardcoreband which was founded in 2003.

• A desperado is also an unpleasant-tasting marijuana cigarette rolled from the "roaches" of many old spliffs.

• A desperado piece is a chess piece that seems determined to give itself up, typically either to bring about stalemate or to sell itself as dearly as possible in a situation where both sides have hanging pieces.

• A Desperado is an alcoholic beverage of tequila flavoured beer and limeade, branded under the name Desperados by French brewers Fischer, widely known as 'Despé'.
