Desktop wars

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Desktop wars refer to the debate among Linux users and developers as to which Linux desktop environment is best; generally, the wars are fought over KDE and GNOME, although alternatives such as Xfce and IceWM are tossed in the mix.

For the most part, it is friendly competition between the two, because for most if any free desktop enviroment gains massive popularity in the non-free software communities, it means increased popularity for all the desktop environments as well. But occasionally, there may be cases of desktop environment zealotry.
