Desktop alert

A Desktop Alert application enables publishers on an intranet or internet server the ability to send an alert or content directly to a computer desktop without the need for an e-mail client or web browser application. Alert software is often used as part of a mass notification system (MNS). The alert application usually resides in the computers Icon tray located in the taskbar. A desktop alert platform that operates on a Microsoft Windows operating system requires these core elements for operation.
