Designer Depot
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Designer Depot is a division of the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC), a retailer in Canada. It was created in November 2004. The first location opened as part of the Vaughan Mills Mall in Vaughan, Ontario. It is a large department store that sells designer brand names at prices 25 - 60% below regular department and specialty store prices. It sells clothing, footwear, home decor, housewares, and toys. The merchandise is sourced from around the globe by a team of specialty buyers who buy the merchandise for various reasons, including order cancellations by other retailers, excess stock, liquidations, or bankruptcies. Their slogan is 'Designer Labels. Depot Prices'.
The average store size is 32,000 square feet. Designer Depot represents HBC's entrance into the off-price market in Canada, which is approximately $5 billion and growing. There are currently 9 Designer Depot stores, with plans to expand to 40 locations across Canada.
