Design Continuum

Design Continuum, now known as Continuum, is an innovation consultancy based in West Newton, Massachusetts. With associated offices in Milan, Italy and Seoul, Korea. The company specializes in consumer behavioral analysis, product design, environments, brand experience, and business strategy.

The company was founded in 1983 by Gianfranco Zaccai and Jerry Zindler in Boston Massachusetts, now employs approximately 150 people in the cross disciplinary team including anthropology, psychology, product behavior, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, graphic design, architectural design, industrial design, and business strategy.

Continuum has served clients in automotive, medical, financial, furniture, consumer electronics, apparel, house hold goods industries and even created categories. Prime examples are Reebok’s iconic Pump series in ’89, P&G’s original Swiffer, Pampers Cruisers, and lately, the $100 laptop for MIT Media Lab [1].

In 2005, the company was featured in NBC News The Today Show on The Idea Business investigating how the practitioners help businesses today create breakthrough innovations.

Practioners at the company have also been featured in the book A Whole New Mind by Daniel H. Pink and Mavericks at Work authored by William C. Taylor.
