Desert Ridge Junior High School, also commonly referred to as DRJHS, is a public, coeducational junior high school located in Mesa, Arizona, USA. Founded in 2001, the school is part of the Gilbert Public School District. The school is most notable for having received an "Excelling" rating from the Arizona Department of Education, signifying that the school is performing "significantly above state performance goals."[1]

The school has a Chess Club, National Junior Honor Society, VICA, Drama Club and S.H.O. (Students Helping Others).[2]

  • Chess Club - the club's mission is to teach beginners, increase skills of current chess players, and practice skills at tournaments and leagues throughout the year.
  • Drama Club - the club provides an outlet for students to play theatre games and plan/organize the production of the school plays.
  • Stuco, or Student council is also a schooll activity, though it only includes elected members and representitives, it takes up a class peroiod.
  • VICA - VICA is a national student organization that promotes career exploration. In Aril, DRJHS VICA will participate in the Arizona Skills Competitions in the following events: C02 Dragsters, Rocketry, Dome Constructing, Bridge Building, and Solar Sprint Races.

The school provides baseball, cheer, softball, flag football both boys and girls, basketball, soccer for both boys and girls, wrestling for boys and softball for girls.
