Dedamona is a hip hop and spoken word performer in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area. Though not her given name, she insists it is her real name[1], borrowed from Othello's wife, whom he strangled in a jealous rage. She was born in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, where she excelled in art and music. Inspired and empowered by rap and R&B, she moved to Minneapolis, where she strived to get noticed on the music scene. "So I found open mics and I started to perform my lyrics as poetry and got known as a spoken-word artist, when the truth is that's not what I was initially. But becoming a spoken-word artist actually made me a better writer."[2].

She has been awarded the MN Music Award for Best Spoken Word Artist for the past five years. The artist is currently promoting her new album, "The Ledge", which features Reggae musicians Sly & Robbie, as well as others. She is also producing the Twin Cities First Women in Hip Hop Summit called,B Girl Be Hip Hop summit in 2005 & 2006, and recording her next album, "Hymn of the Human Spirit".

Desdamona is also known for her appearance on Brother Ali's Rites of Passage EP performing 'We Will Always B', an ode to the permanance of hip-hop:

“They are blind to the signs that the rhyme combined with the mind connects them to their feminine side
the groove slips between their thighs and makes their hips wide like mine,”
