Deron Miller
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Deron John Miller (born May 21, 1976 in Chester, Pennsylvania, USA) is the lead singer, guitarist and songwriter for CKY (also known as Camp Kill Yourself) which has been through various incarnations since he co-founded it with Jess Margera in 1994. Deron came up with the band name after a horror movie idea he had. Deron's previous bands include This End Up, Oil, and Foreign Objects. CKY's most recent release was 2005s An Ånswer Can Be Found which debuted at #35 on Billboard's Top 100.
Deron is contributing to James Murphy's Death tribute album and is the person who initially thought of the idea of the album. His two main inspirations are Chuck Schuldiner and James Murphy.
Deron has appeared with the CKY Crew in many of Bam Margera's videos, including CKY3, CKY4 and Haggard, the latter as a member of the fictional band Gnarkill in Haggard (note that Deron is not actually a member of the real Gnarkill). He can also be seen giving his opinions about Haggard in the "making of" DVD bonus feature. He is set to make his big screen debut in 2006 with a cameo in "Return to Sleepaway Camp" which wrapped filming in 2003 but has seen its release delayed for contractual reasons. Miller later married the film's star, Felissa Rose. Miller and Rose currently live in California with their daughter, Bianca Rose Miller. They are currently expecting another daughter in February 2007.
On June 28, 2006, Deron Miller announced that he would use the month of July to enter a detox program to cope with his substance abuse problems and rising tensions as a traveling musician. This announcement came four days after Deron suddenly walked off the stage during a concert in Burlington, Vermont. Days after the incident, Deron posted the following message on the official CKY website [1]:
“ | i walked offstage because i had no control over myself at that point. half a bottle of jack and a handful of anti-depressants didnt help much. i have tried unsuccessfully for years to quit these habits, but to no avail. the problem seems to be getting worse and worse... it wasn't because of a stage diver, equipment or roadies...it was going to happen regardless. in my life ive had about 15 of these black out episodes where i conjure up something thats been bothering me and get out of control to the point where i have no idea what im doing. | ” |
Much to the approval of fans, he has recently resumed answering AskCKY questions and has confirmed he is working on a plethora of new CKY material. He also claims to have 3 songs ready to record for his new Metal band World Under Blood. He hopes to have a demo of these songs released by Halloween 2007.
