Derek Webster

Derek Webster, born 1970, is the founder, publisher, and editor-in-chief of Maisonneuve magazine.
Derek Webster grew up in Oakville, Ontario. He is a graduate of McGill University in Montreal, and Washington University in St. Louis. Webster lives in Montreal with his wife Kena Herod (a contributor to Maisonneuve), and daughter Vivienne. Prior to starting Maisonneuve, he was Senior Editor at the literary quarterly Boulevard, wrote profiles and reviews for The Montreal Gazette, The National Post and The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and has published poetry and essays in AGNI, The New Quarterly, BOMB, The Fiddlehead, The Antigonish Review, and SHIFT. From 1997-2000, he helped William H. Grass and Lorin Cuoco to write and research Literary St. Louis. Webster serves on the board of Magazines Canada, the Quebec Writers Federation, and the advisory board of the McGill International Review.
