Derek Evans was a fictional character in the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders. He was played by Simon Lowe.
Evans was the social worker who visited Bert Atkinson and his grandson Jay Brown, when Bert was trying to get a residency order for Jay to live with him permanently. Jay charmed Derek, offering him a cup of tea and talking to him politely, impressing him.
