Derek Benz (born October 27) is an American author of children's fantasy. Benz's debut series is the popular Grey Griffins Books, published by Scholastic, Inc. (publishers of Harry Potter). Benz is co-authoring the thirteen-book series with childhood friend, J.S. Lewis.

Benz currently resides in Arizona with his wife and son.
