[edit] Derby Dragons October 06 to Present

The Derby Dragons began their time under the management of Anthony Parker (manager) and Lee Hadfield (Assistant Manager). They began in division 9 of the sunday league at Willows Sports Centre. Their first match was on 10th Septmeber 2006 against Cams Rams which they won 3-2 with Lee Hadfield scoring two goals and James Castledine(Cas) scoring the third. They began half way through the season and finished 4th having won 3 lost 3 and drew 2. They got promoted to division 8 due to a division reshuffle. Where in their first full season they finished 4th.

Initially wanting to call themselves the Purple Dragons due to the managers interest in dragons and his favourite colour, but due to a lack of purple shirts available and in the correct price range the manager chose to shorten it to the Dragons. As their first game drew closer the manager was stuck to find a suitable kit and enquired at his place of work. They were able to offer him cheap shirts which he accepted. Due to these shirts being 05/06 season Derby County shirts he chose to alter the name to Derby Dragons. Due to administritive limitations at Willows Sports Centre they had to wait until there second full season for the name to officially alter.

[edit] The First Full Season

The first full season spanned from 5th November 2006 to 18th February 2007. It saw Derby Dragons win their first 3 games and then due to personal circumstances they saw two players unable to play for 3 weeks. Due to having missing players and unable to fill the roles with similar players it saw Derby Dragons faulter to 5 games without a win(3 lost and 2 drawn). However they still managed to finish the season with good results and pushed for promotion but found that they couldn't convert the last two games of the season to wins and finished 4th overall.
