Isn't the odd name from its patron saint, Denis? Wetman 17:54, 2 May 2004 (UTC)

Sounds plausible. However, the relevant web page of The Corpus of ROMANESQUE SCULPTURE in Britain and Ireland (a highly detailed archaeological report, with lots of nice photos, that I just discovered) reckons that it was dedicated to SS James & Leonard. It is still possible that the Benedictines named it after Denis, but it was renamed later. -- Heron 19:35, 2 May 2004 (UTC)
