Denton's Green is a sub-district within the Metropolitan Borough of St Helens, Merseyside. It is located approximately a mile north of the town centre. [[1]]

The area is made up mainly of people from working class and lower middle class households. This includes terraced and semi detached property as well as departments. There is also a small amount of detached property.

[edit] Entertainment and leisure

The area has an impressive amount of places for entertainment and leisure.

There are four public houses - The Gerard, The Abbey, The Seven Stars and The Lingholme.

Two leisure centres - Queens Park [[2]] and Ruskin Drive [[3]].

There are also several playing fields for public use. These include Queens Park, Cowley Hill, Bishop Road and Victoria Park.

Queens Park contains facilities for bowling, tennis, basketball, rugby and football.

St Helens Cricket Club is based at Bishop Road. Such local legends as Darren 'tiny' tyms, Gary 'gimp' Shepcock and Cheese 'cheesycock' Booth play at this club. The club is expected by all to win the 2007 first division in the LDCC.

Windle Labour Club is located at the bottom of Greenfield Road.

Cowley Language College [[4]] and De La Salle are the two high schools in the area. The schools are widely respected in St Helens and considered the best in the town alongside Rainford High.

Rivington and Bleak Hill are the main primary schools in the area.

The area falls under the Windle Ward and is currently represented by three Conservative councillors. [[5]]

Since the late 90's, several newsagents in the area have either closed or gone out of business. The Paper Place on Greenfield Road closed in 1999 due to competition from a Day And Night store (now a Mini Tesco). The M&M store and Pats closed down several years later along with a newsagents on Kiln Lane.
