The Danish Football Association has named 35 players as a core squad for these games,[1] while national team manager Morten Olsen will name individual squads for each specific match.
[edit] Australia vs. Denmark
On 2007-02-07, Denmark played a friendly match against Australia at Loftus Road in London, England. There were six changes in the Danish starting line-up, compared to the November 2006 Czech Republic friendly match. Michael Gravgaard and Lars Jacobsen replaced Per Nielsen and Thomas Helveg in the defense, Martin Jørgensen started instead of Jan Kristiansen on the offensive midfield and Dennis Rommedahl and Thomas Kahlenberg on the winger positions instead of Peter Løvenkrands and Jonas Kamper. Finally, Jon Dahl Tomasson replaced the injured Nicklas Bendtner on the striker position.
The match ended with a 3-1 win for Denmark. The first goal was scored by Jon Dahl Tomasson after just 5 minutes. 13 minutes later, Daniel Jensen made it 2-0, and 10 minutes after that scoring, Jon Dahl Tomasson scored his second goal in the match. The second half was scoreless, until 5 minutes before full time, when Brett Emerton scored on a direct free kick. Danish manager Morten Olsen made five subtitutions; including a comeback to Jesper Grønkjær at half time, and giving debut to Morten Nordstrand four minutes before full time.[2]

[edit] Spain vs. Denmark
On March 24, 2007, Denmark played an Euro 2008 qualification match against Spain at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid, Spain. The match ended with a 2-1 loss for Denmark, and the lineup was the same as for the February Australia-friendly.
On March 14, 2007 Morten Olsen selected 22 players for the match, including possible debutant midfielders Simon Poulsen and Leon Andreasen.[3] Four days later, midfielder Michael Silberbauer was also called up to the squad.[4] Two days before kick-off, Per Nielsen had to leave the training camp at Marbella with a minor back injury.[5]
The game commenced at 22.00 CET on March 24. After 20 minutes, Niclas Jensen received his second yellow card and was sent off, and Denmark were down to 10 players for the rest of the match. Spain's first goal was scored by Fernando Morientes after 34 minutes. In the 38th minute, Leon Andreasen made his debut, replacing Martin Jørgensen. Shortly before half time, David Villa made it 2-0. Four minutes into the second half, Michael Gravgaard scored a reducing goal on a header, following a throw-in from Daniel Agger. Morten Olsen used his remaining two subtitutions during the second half, as Jesper Grønkjær replaced Thomas Kahlenberg, and Leon Andreasen was substituted off the pitch in favour of striker Nicklas Bendtner.[6].

[edit] Germany vs. Denmark
On March 28, 2007, Denmark played a friendly match against Germany at MSV Arena in Duisburg, Germany. The match ended with a 1-0 win for Denmark. There were two changes in the Danish starting line-up, compared to the match against Spain: Brian Priske replaced Niclas Jensen in the defense and Nicklas Bendtner replaced Martin Jørgensen.
The Danish team consisted of the squad from the preceding match against Spain, with the addition of possible debutant defender Kristian Bak Nielsen. Bak Nielsen had been named a replacement for Per Nielsen as soon as the injury occured, but was not a part of the squad against Spain.[5] Martin Jørgensen did not travel with the team from Spain to Duisburg, as his wife gave birth to a daughter on March 24.[7]
Prior to the match, Danish coach Morten Olsen had expressed his dismay at the Germans' decision to withdraw a number of first team regulars, who had played Germany's previous qualification match against the Czech Republic.[8][9][10]
The game commenced at 20.00 CEST on March 27 with Denmark dominant for the majority of the match, and had a lot of big chances. The single goal of the match came 10 minutes before the end. Nicklas Bendtner was the man by the goal on a counter attack, assisted by Jesper Grønkjær. Morten Olsen used all his 6 subtitutions during the game - 4 of them at half time. A few minutes before the goal, Simon Poulsen got his debut after replacing Dennis Rommedahl.[11]
