Denise Dittrich

Denise R. Dittrich (pronounced DEE-trick) is an American politician in Minnesota. Dittrich, a Democrat, represents district 47A in the Minnesota House of Representatives, which is constituted of portions of the cities of Coon Rapids and Champlin. As of January 2007, Dittrich will serve as Vice Chair of the E-12 Education Committee; she will also serve on the K-12 Education Finance Division, Labor and Consumber Protection Division, and Property Tax Relief and Local Sales Tax Division.[1]

Dittrich defeated incumbent Bill Haas, a Republican for whom she had campaigned in the past[2], in the 2004 election. Her margin of victory was 52%-48%.[3] Her platform consisted primarily of increasing education funding and development of the Northstar Commuter Rail Line.[4]

In 2006, Dittrich defeated her Republican challenger, John Tomczak, 54%-46%.[5] On election day, Dittrich's husband was arrested and charged with stealing some of Tomczak's lawn signs.[6]
