[edit] Ereshkigal

A note was added about Erishkigal's appearance in the second edition module "Return to the Keep On the Borderlands". In the mod, Erishkigal is an evil goddess (not a demon lord) belonging to the Sumerian / Akkadian pantheon (there's an artifact in her lair with info on her pantheon). Monster Manual II is the only reference that calls Ereshkigal a (male) demon lord, so I'm reverting to that version for now. Asima is also listed as male in MMII. --Muchness 03:27, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

The fact that Ereshikigal was listed as male in MMII, I think, was an unintentional mistake. Ereshkigal is mythic-logically female. To continue to call her a male is like calling Hades a goddess instead of a god. The preceding unsigned comment was added by KenL (talk • contribs) 17:17, 20 February 2006.
Mistake or not, we have to report source material rather than interpret it. If Hades was listed as a goddess in D&D supplements, we'd have to list her as a goddess in D&D related articles. I've removed the wikilink to Ereshkigal because at the moment there's only a 1 line ref in MMII – not enough info for even a stub. --Muchness 08:35, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
Anyway, why is Zzyczesiya listed as a female? The name was just mentioned in Faces of Fiend with no reference to the his/her gender whatsoever. The preceding unsigned comment was added by KenL (talk • contribs) 17:17, 20 February 2006.
That's a good catch. The only refs I can find are here (no source cited) and here (same author, Greytalk list cited as source). Unfortunately the Greytalk list archives are no longer online so the source is unverifible. There's a WOTC supplement called Fiendish Codex I : Hordes of the Abyss due for release in June 2006; hopefully that'll settle some of these issues. --Muchness 08:35, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
Oddly enough, from those who have gotten the book so far, Erishkigel is one of the very few demon lords that have been excised from the book! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 204.153.84.10 (talkcontribs) 16:53, 13 June 2006 (UTC).

[edit] Refs needed

  • Ahrimanes: (Also featured in a recent Dragon magazine, not sure which issue) The preceding unsigned comment was added by 204.153.84.10 (talk • contribs) .

[edit] Removed

The following were removed from the list of known demon lords by KenL because they were traditionally more gods than demon lords:

  • Doresain, King of Ghouls: Demigod. Libris Mortis p 16
  • Shami-Amourae: Queen of succubi. Mentioned in Dungeon #5, "The Stolen Power", page 27.

[edit] Green Ronin

I added a note to reflect a disclaimer posted to the EN World forums by the Armies of the Abyss author Erik Mona. --Muchness 05:54, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Alphaks

This being is a D&D Immortal, but does he qualify as a demon lord under the current definition?

[edit] Errtu?

What about Errtu from the Icewind Dale trilogy?
