Demonoid is a BitTorrent tracker. It was created by an anonymous Yugoslavian who only goes by the name Deimos. Although it is primarily a semi-private BitTorrent tracker, it indexes external torrents and Demonoid-tracked torrents are easily found on other BitTorrent search engines like Mininova.

The website features a publicly accessible search engine, although membership is required to download more than 3 torrents per week. Registration traditionally opened every Friday (GMT,) but plans were announced on March 3, 2007 to open registrations on a monthly rather than weekly schedule in the future. Existing users in good standing have the ability to send invitation codes to others during closed registration.

Two years after Demonoid was created, a sister BitTorrent tracker focused on pornography (note that Demonoid doesn't host any pornographic content) called Demonorgy was created, but the site's owner did not have the resources to maintain the website. After a couple of months, Demonorgy was shut down.

Although Demonoid removed torrents over a year old on August 4, 2006 to free tracker resources, the site has over 131,295 user submitted torrents indexed as of March 2007.

Demonoid categorizes torrents under either Anime, Applications, Audio Books, Books, Comics, Games, Miscellaneous, Movies, Music, Music Videos, Pictures, or TV.

[edit] Notable Leaks

The 2007 season premiere of The Sopranos, Soprano Home Movies has been leaked to the internet and can be viewed now by Demonoid (BitTorrent) users a full week early.[1]
