Demeter (cat)

Demeter is a cat in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats. Her name is first given in "the Naming Of Cats".

Demeter, as costumed in the video production, is black and gold and wears gloves instead of arm warmers giving her an elegant touch. She is one of the main queens and is beautiful but skittish. She is very cautious of Macavity and always seems to know when he's around and sings part of his eponymous song with Bombularina, with whom she is very close. She is the supposed mate of Munkustrap. She is also one of the few adult queens to attempt to welcome Grizabella and sings part of Grizabella the Glamour Cat. She is played by an alto singer.

In the Cats video she is played by Aeva May.
