[edit] Willy on Wheels
- Overturn. He is a highly notable and historic user in the world's largest encyclopedia and one of the web's most popular websites, having non-trivial impact on the shaping of Wikipedia. I think he deserves an article of his own. A previous AfD deleted the article on the ground "we don't need to glorify him with an article". This is not a ground for deletion. Having an article on Adolf Hitler does not mean glorifying him. Also, an article on Willy on Wheels is not limited to this particular user but can also cover his impact on Wikipedia vandalismscape in general, which has recently become a notable subject with wikipedia vandalism receiving international news coverage and having far-reaching real world consequences. I propose to have this article reinstated or its protection removed so I can write a new article. Loom91 06:54, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- Endorse speedy deletion Though I certainly concur in the assessment that the prospective glorification of the subject is altogether immaterial to the deletion discussion, I think that the AfD was properly closed in view of the failure of the article to assert the notability of the subject. Perhaps we'd have been better served had MarkSweep waited a bit longer before speedying (since one's being noted for having disrupted on a relatively large scale of a rather popular website might represent an assertion of notability [even where the subject is cleary nn]), but, in view, for example, of WP:SNOWBALL, speedy delete was surely alright. Irrespective of the speedy deletion, the subject is surely nn, and I cannot imagine that we'd consider having a page for a vandal who acted altogether similarly yet on another website with a similar Alexa profile. - I restate my opinion that it's not only strictly about WoW and the things he did. His activities influenced how Wikipedia deals with vandalism and lead to the imposition of many important measures. Vandalism in wikipedia has become a very notable subject recently, and the WoW is an important figure in that vandalism. Combined, I think this gives the subject a reasonable claim to notability. In any case, I don't believe he is sufficiently non-notable to be speedily delted. 08:18, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- I disagree. Then high-profile issues are to do with reliability of information - all WoW did was move pages. And now with page move restrictions and autoblock bots it's very hard for him to do anything at all. This should be left in project space. Just zis Guy you know? 12:25, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

- Endorse deletion as self-referential, and per "deny recognition". Do not under any circumstances move to Willy on Wheels ON WHEELS!!!! Just zis Guy you know? 11:31, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

- Endorse deletion. Not notable in the real world, self-reference. · rodii · 00:07, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- Endorse deletion Knowledge of WoW is useful only for Wikipedians involved in counter-vandalism, and his section in project-space provides for this need. Outside of WP, WoW is obviously non-notable, and I cannot (yet) support the proposition that Wikipedia is so important to the outside world such that fame within the project confers fame in the outside world. - Endorse deletion per Xoloz. Grandmasterka 02:02, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- Keep deleted under don't feed the trolls. Being a vandal doesn't make you noteworthy. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 03:11, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- Keep deleted: He's a pain in the butt, but he's our pain in the butt, and he hasn't gotten comment in print, hasn't been referred to by multiple sources. When we're talking about screen names and not real names, we can't have biographies: an article like that is a description of an event rather than a person (as there's no person there). The event needs to have some impact other than bugging us to the point of distraction. We need to make a big distinction between pixel people and real people: we're not at Neuromancer yet. - Endorse deletion a guy who moved pages on a web site? - Liberatore(T) 11:46, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- Endorse deletion. This couldn't be any more self-referential if we stuck a {{GA}} template on it. --Sam Blanning(talk) 11:53, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- Someone pointed out that Wheely Willy might be a suitable target for a (protected) redirect. Beats having the ugly "earth salted here" template. Dr Zak 14:59, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- Endorse deletion. Not notable outside Wikipedia. -Hit bull, win steak(Moo!) 21:09, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
