Delta Force is a first-person shooter computer game by developer and publisher NovaLogic. It was released for the PC on November 1, 1998. Delta Force was designed to be a military simulation loosely based on the Delta Force special operations force. Due to the game being a low budget release, the graphics tend to suffer and flaws in the game can be found.

[edit] Other Features

Delta Force uses a Voxel based rendering system unlike most other games at the time.

[edit] Critical Errors

The game, while having a notably lengthy set of missions, and environment interactivity (ability to shoot birds / break trees with gunfire), possessed a flawed AI that resulted in poor reception. Enemy soldiers would respond and open fire only if the player was seen. Wild gunfire and visibly dispatching soldiers on patrol would yield no reaction unless the player was seen doing so. Similarly, the algorithm employed to give the enemy soldiers a less accurate shot was too effective, often resulting in upwards of an 80% miss rate unless in extreme close quarters.

While the game itself was well implemented for standards at the time, the enemy AI problems compounded with the limitation of 7 different weapons (5 main, 2 sidearms) provided a lackluster experience that brought the game down to a map crawl, resulting in poor consumer reception.[citation needed]
