The Delfinen class of submarines was the last class of submarines of the Royal Danish Navy designed and built entirely by Danish architects. The first three boats of the class were financed by Denmark. The fourth was financed by the United States (where it was known as SS-554) under the Cost Share program.

  • Propulsion: two B&W 1200 hp (890 kW) diesel engines, two BBC 2100 hp (1600 kW) electric motors, two propellers
  • Range: 4000 nautical miles (7400 km) at 8.5 knots (16 km/h)
  • Armament: 4 x 533 mm torpedo tubes, eight torpedoes
  • Speed: 13.5 knots (25 km/h) surfaced, 16.0 knots (30 km/h) submerged
