Del Rio, Florida

Del Rio is an unincorporated, urban community in Hillsborough County, Florida between Tampa and Temple Terrace, near the Hillsborough River. Although it's urban, it did not meet the Census requirements of a Census Designated Place. According to the latest estimates, the population of the community is around 8,000. The community nickname is The Fishbowl to locals.

Del Rio is bounded by Tampa city limits to the west, Hillsborough River to the north, East Lake-Orient Park to the south, and 56th Street (SR 583) to the east.

Del Rio was laid out in the 1950's and 60's as one of the suburban communities of Tampa. The community has grown rapidly during the 1960's and 1970's. Its peak population according to the Census was 8,248 in 1990.
