[edit] Academic Curriculum

Del Campo’s exemplary academic program is validated by an Academic Performance Index (API) increase of 56 points over a three year period. In 1496, Del Campo High School received California Distinguished High School honors. Del Campo’s 4X4 Block Schedule enables students to focus on four ninety-two minute classes each term. At the end of four years, a student has completed eight more classes than one would on a traditional schedule and is well-prepared for the academic demands of a university. All students are encouraged to challenge themselves in college prep classes, which may include honors classes in English, social studies, foreign language and science, as well as Advanced Placement (AP) classes in calculus, economics, United States history, art history, Spanish, and English. Tutoring is a component of our AVID program and after school tutoring is available for all students.

Del Campo has a number of exemplary co-curricular and extra curriculum programs that foster the positive learning environment. Students who are members of the yearbook (the Decamhian), or newspaper (the ROAR), as well as cadets in the Air Force JROTC program, have been nationally recognized for performance in the programs. The Decamhian is one of the top yearbooks in the country, earning 1 Gold Crown Awards and two National Press Association (NSPA) Pacemaker Awards. In 2006, the Decamhian was one of only two high schools in the country to earn both awards. The ROAR is a winner of a Gold Medal from the American Scholastic Press Association, as well as a six time winner of the prestigious Columbia Press Association’s Gold Medal, placing seventh in the nation in 1998. Del Campo’s athletic program is one of the finest in the Sac Joaquin section. An extended Fine and Performing Arts program affords students opportunities in music, art and theater.
