From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Deir el-Balah (Arabic: دير البلح‎) is located at the center of the Gaza Strip and is well-known for its beaches and palm trees. Recent excavations uncovered a cemetery dating back to the late Bronze Age filled with pottery, tombs, bronze pots and a mosaic floor. A monastery was built in Deir al-Balah by St. Helena in 372 AD.
