Deidré Visser is a South African contestant from the third season of the local version of the hit reality television series, Pop Idol, titled Idols.

Deidré is from Centurion, South Africa, born on April 6, 1988. Among her favourite artists are Britney Spears, Celine Dion and Bryan Adams.[citation needed] Her hobbies include singing, performing, acting and just generally entertaining and she has had formal training since 2002.

Deidre entered the second season of Idols in 2005.

[edit] The Karin controversy

There were reports of a spat between season II winner Karin Kortje and Deidre due to a comment made backstage by one of the girls. Deidre was said to be in tears. This event was well covered by the media and it gave both contestants extra publicity in their hopes of going to the top. Kortje has since said she called Deidre up and discussed the matter and they are now "Best of Friends" (3TALK with Noeleen, SABC 3) but Deidre has not commented further on the matter.[citation needed]
