Degollado

Degollado, Jalisco is a town in the eastern highlands of the Mexican State of Jalisco. The word "degollado" is synonymously known to "slit one's throat" or "to decapitate". It is also a last name in this case, the town was named after Santos Degollado.

- The patron saint of Degollado is Our Lady of Guadalupe and she is celebrated on 12 December.
- The most notable Fallen Hero of Degollado, Jalisco, among hundreds of others, was the Degollado defender, Mr. Luciano Martinez Cordova, who fought along with his men against the 2000 or so bandits led by the outlaw Inez Chavez, in 1918. The whole town of Degollado was burned down totally, and about 90 % of its population massacred.
- This was one of the areas where the Cristero War happened in the 1920's.
