Degehabur (woreda)

Degehabur (Somali Dagahbuur) is one of the 47 woredas in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Degehabur Zone, Degehabur is bordered on the south by the Gode Zone, on the southwest by the Fiq Zone, on the northwest by Degehamedo, on the north by the Jijiga Zone, on the east by Aware, and on the southeast by the Korahe Zone. The major town in Degehabur is Degehabur.

This woreda is primarily inhabited by the Darod clan of the Somali people.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 121,160, of whom 54,569 were males and 66,591 were females; 42,815 or 35.34% of its population are urban dwellers, which is greater than the Zone average of 22.3%. Information is not available on the area of Degehabur, so its density cannot be calculated.[1]
