[edit] MIAs

In 1990 I was working in an aero-space factory in El Cajon, CA where I became friends with a man from Viet Nam. He didn't live far from me so there were times when we would sit in his kitchen and drink Vietnamese tea before we went to work and share our life stories.

Son was a boat person that escaped to Hong Kong on a small boat with other from the Danang area. My spelling of Vietnamese names may be a bit off. Son was a teacher in Viet Nam.. He was sent to Michigan in December from Hong Kong, sort of adopted by some religious group. From there he got to California where his math skills got him a position in this factory...

I don't know how many times we met and talked, many, many.. A couple of times he said it would be nice if I could go with hime to visit his parents home/farm in Viet Nam. I never had the time or money then. Sometime in between 1990 & 1992 during our casual afternoon tea he again encouraged me to go with him to Viet Nam. He says to me I will make you famous.. I asked how. He said that I would be on Johnny Carson, the news and other programs.. I asked why, he said we will bring back a soldier...Alive.... Oh wow.. I wanted to go but didn't have the money so I contacted the Ross Pero firm and told them my story because I heard that they were funding expeditions looking for MIA/KIA... But nobody ever returned my calls.

Son still goes to Viet Nam to visit his ever smaller family and I still don't know how to follow up on this story... His family had a farm in the Danang area but since his father died they have started to urbanize the area and now his mother is on a small pension there.

There is my story.. Now I am in Colorado... I have cancer and Son supplies me with the GOOD GREEN TEA from Viet Nam and China to help me.. He will never take a penny from me... He is a good hard working American now...

What say???
