Defence College of Communications and Information Systems

Formed on 1 April 2004, the Defence College of Communications and Information Systems (DCCIS) is one of six British defence training establishments introduced to deliver more coherent, efficient and cost effective training across Defence.
The College consists of a Headquarters based at Blandford Camp, the Royal Navy CIS Training Unit at HMS Collingwood, the Royal School of Signals at Blandford Camp and the Royal Air Force Number 1 Radio School at DCAE Cosford, of which the Aerial Erector School at RAF Digby is a part. The separate schools currently deliver a wide range of training in communications and information systems. As a result of the Defence Training Review plans have been made to co-locate these elements at RAF St Athan and enter into a commercial partnership with Metrix UK, an industrial consortium, which should see the delivery of the first genuine 'Defence', rather than single-Service, training courses. Central to the College's vision is the concept of training development on a joint basis, for which a team has been incorporated into the Headquarters.
DCCIS reports to 22 (Training) Group RAF.
