Def Tech is a Japanese band. Jesee, is a vocal in RIZE, named "Def Tech". Def Tech has enjoyed amazing success, despite being signed with an independent label, and had the 3rd best selling album in 2005. Def Tech performed at Live8 in Tokyo in July 2005. In 2005, Def Tech became one of the biggest hits in Japan[citation needed]. They are establishing a new genre called "Jawaiian reggae" (Japanese + Hawaiian + Reggae)[citation needed]. They not only perform but also do their own songwriting, arrangement, and production by themselves.

  • Shen(August 28th, 1980) - born in the People's Republic of China and grew up in Hawaii. He has visited Japan many years for his father's job. This has made him bilingual in English and Japanese.
  • Micro(August 9th, 1981) - originally from Ōta, Tokyo. His real name: Yuki Nishimiya (西宮佑騎 Nishimiya Yūki?). Hosei University graduate. He created a label called "Primary Color Recordz" under Universal music in February 2007.

The band's 2006 album, Catch The Wave, includes a title track that was used in trailers for the 2006 film Catch a Wave (キャッチ・ア・ウェーブ), but may not have been featured in the movie itself[citation needed]. Micro played the part of surfer as his real name, Yuki Nishimiya in the film.

The PlayStation drumming simulation game Taiko no Tatsujin (太鼓の達人) Vol. 6 includes the Def Tech track "My Way", from their self-titled 2005 album.
