From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dedrick D. Gobert (born Dedrick Dwayne Fontenot on November 25, 1971 in Louisiana, USA - died November 19, 1994 in Riverside, California) most notably remembered for his supporting role, playing Dooky, in the 1991 film Boyz N the Hood, directed by African American film director John Singleton. An up and coming Black supporting actor, Gobert's life was cut short over an argument regarding a drag race, leading him to be fatally shot, and resulting in his eventual passing away on November 19, 1994, just a few days short of his 23rd birthday. He also starred in the movies Poetic Justice, alongside Janet Jackson and Tupac Shakur, and Higher Learning, alongside Omar Epps and Laurence Fishburne, both of which were also films by John Singleton. He made his debut role in Boyz N the Hood.

[edit] Miscellanea

  • The pacifier that is constantly seen in Gobert's mouth throughout the movie Boyz N the Hood, was actually a real habit that Gobert had picked up after he quit smoking.
