DecoTurf

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

DecoTurf is a tennis hardcourt comprised of layers of acrylic, rubber, silica, and other materials on top of an asphalt base. It is manufactured by Decosystems (a division of California Products Corporation), based in Andover, Massachusetts.

The surface is used at the US Open, the ATP Masters Series events in Canada and Cincinnati, as well the US Open Series tournaments.

Compared to Rebound Ace, the surface upon which the Australian Open is played, the ball slows down slightly less on the bounce and bounces slightly lower on DecoTurf. This explains why serve-and-volley players such as Stefan Edberg and Patrick Rafter had more success at events held on DecoTurf than at other hardcourt events.
