Deception Bay, Queensland

Deception Bay is the name of a small bay in the west of Moreton Bay, south of Pummicestone Passage and north of the Redcliffe Peninsula.
Deception Bay is a suburb of Caboolture and is located approximately 30km north of Brisbane in the south-eastern corner of the bay of the same name which separates the Redcliffe peninsula and Bribie Island.
Population is slightly greater than 20,000. Deception Bay is a very multicultural suburb, with large numbers of Pacific Islanders moving to the suburb. In the past few years, the beachfront area has received a major re-design, under the urban renewal program of the Queensland Government. The suburb also contains a new development area, North Rise. Bayswater Resort, is a resort currently under construction in the Moreton Downs Estate.
The town is a popular launching site for fishing in Moreton and Deception Bays with a number of boat ramps available along the foreshore.
The name is often abbreviated to "D-Bay".
Neighboring suburbs are: Rothwell, Narangba, Mango Hill.
Deception Bay was named in 1823 by the explorer John Oxley, who originally thought that the shallow bay was a river.
