Isn't it sad when a Court of Law is required, and able, to settle a intellectual, historigraphical dispute? 2+2=5.Sup dudes?[[User:Kitler005]] 00:54, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

no. it's sad when nazis try to hide their crimes with stupidity. Amoruso 02:39, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
Wow dude, are you following me? l@me. I wonder if I should file for a wiki restraining order? WhatevsSup dudes?[[User:Kitler005]] 18:55, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Stupidity? I assume that means Lipstadt was willing to be cross-examined or is now willing to debate? She should win handily, seeing as her opponents, "the nazis", are so stupid. Encourage her, another smashing victory would be grand - a victory without the tainted influence of $ and power - just facts and logic. I can see her taking a victory lap now. Cheering crowds of Harvard, etc students rushing the stage ( to carry her on their shoulders/ maybe to beat up "the nazis"). I'm sure she would win in an open debate - aren't you?

In other words, you want a do-over, and will continue to request them until you "win". Gzuckier 18:17, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

"A do over"? I'm sorry I missed the first debate - you caught me napping on that one. Do you have a link to it? I was under the impression that a debate was declined - sorry. "win"? - what's to win? Scholarly debates/research/etc are usually so low budget that "win" usually means a better parking space in lieu of cash. "Just the facts mame" is all we can "win" unless there is a bigger political game in the background. Is there? Ms Lipstadt would have to read Grubach et al on CODOH before a debate - would as in prudent. Her views on intermarriage would require a good PR team to smooth over the edges, as would some of her other opinions/facts. It would be fun to see - I wont hold my breath though.

You want Irving to "cross-examine" Lipstadt on intermarriage? ??? Gzuckier 21:43, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

They can cross examine/debate any issue they want - that is just one issue that I believe Irvin was grilled on in the libel trial. Irvin/et al probably think/thought it was a silly issue he was grilled on ( interesting to know her views - you may not know it yourself - I believe she wants Jewish blood to remain untainted by the goyim - I agree with her, don't you (( this is minor sideline detail of personality and prejudice/not central to the holocaust)) ).

[edit] David Irving v. Penguin Books and Deborah Lipstadt

Could someone make a discussion of the wikisource:David Irving v. Penguin Books and Deborah Lipstadt case? This is a very important topic in historiography, jewish studies and WWII politics. This really deserves to be in WP. Witty lama 18:50, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Picture of Deborah Lipstadt

Since this article is about Deborah Lipstadt, I thought it better to have a picture of the subject than the book she wrote. The article about her book can have the book's picture, while this one should have a picture of her. Sup dudes?[[User:Kitler005]] 00:03, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

I don't have an issue with a picture, but a better quality one that will survive a fair use challenge would be the way to go. I've reverted rather then end up with a broken imagebox when this one gets removed. Cantankrus 01:35, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you mean. I don't mean to be POV here, but Deborah isn't very attractive, infact some might call her down right ugly (she ain't got no alibi). Thus, I doubt we'll find one of better quality unless she has surgery or something. Sup dudes?[[User:Kitler005]] 03:36, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
The uploaded image was of fairly poor contrast. A 10 second search on google finds fairly good quality images of her. But uploading one of them isn't going to address the fair use problem, which is also a concern. Cantankrus 06:43, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Actually I have seen a couple of fairly good photos of her. They may be on sites you don't like - maybe copyrighted? - who would guess that the "enemy" would have a faltering photo of her.159.105.80.63 17:35, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Header

I changed the header since the wording isn't clear. Are we saying she is Jewish? If that is the case that is not appropriate in the lead sentence. Or are we saying that she specializes in Jewish studies. If this is the case maybe something along the lines of "Deborah Esther Lipstadt (born 1947-03-18, New York City) is an American historian specializing in Jewish studies and author of the book Denying the Holocaust." Anyways, this is not about me whitewashing or me being anti-semetic. Its about making the lead sentence make sense.--Tom 17:31, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Is she Jewish, is that the case, take a wild guess.

I fail to see your point. Darkmind1970 13:46, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Added a short section

I added a short section on Ward Churchills criticism of her. This should perhaps be expanded.Zumbiz 01:05, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

During my enforced absence I read up and seemed to note that Lipstadt was a theologian - not a historian ( citation - Emory University ). I believe her books etc are not peer reviewed historical tracts. Richard Evans was the defense historian of record at the Irvin trial - not Ms Lipstadt. Maybe this is wrong but worth a check - she teaches a studies course not history from the Emory blurp159.105.80.63 13:18, 14 March 2007 (UTC).

I hope an editor changes the article to theologian - nobody will notice.159.105.80.141 19:16, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
