[edit] Music

What about other music "scenes" in this city? Rock, county, gospel..there are others. Why only mention hip-hop? Postoak 03:31, 3 February 2007 (UTC) I don't know. The Houston Hip Hop scene is the one I consistently read about in music and news publications. The New Yorker article cited compares it to Seattle in the early 90's. If there could be a general statement about Houston's music or live music scene, it would be more more appropriate in that article. Deatonjr 04:10, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Can you help with the Houston, Texas by expanding the hip-hop paragraph you added to include other genre's? See the objection by KP Botany on the FAC page. Postoak 01:27, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
I think ZZTop should be mentioned? What about Houston Noise Bands? What do you think? Postoak 06:15, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
Of all Houston artists, ZZ Top and Beyonce are the first that come to my mind. I think Houston Noise Bands could be integrated into the article, but not on the main Houston page. I'd save it for the culture article.

[edit] Mark Bellinghaus

I'm glad you approve and have enjoyed. It would be good if you could watchlist it to check over new edits. You can find more of my contributions here. Tyrenius 05:45, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

It should be watchlisted now that I've done a couple of edits. The references needed some work. I'm still not too good at properly formatting everything. Deatonjr 05:51, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Government and politics in Houston

We should move some of Politics of Houston (maybe mayor and city council) back into the main article and reduce the crime paragraphs...or put the crime stuff in a subsection. Very little is sourced in Politics of Houston. What do you think? Postoak 21:44, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

    • Yes, the crime statistics and specifically the Katrina related crime may be relevant to demographics, but not for the main article. It is more of a current event from over a year ago. Deatonjr 21:50, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jim McInvale

It's a reasonable mistake to misspell this guy's name, so I've redirected this title to the existing article. - Mgm|(talk) 10:31, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Oh thanks, good idea. I even did some google searches before creating the article and there are many pages that also misspell his name. Deatonjr 10:33, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mark Bellinghaus (again)

If there's anything wrong with the ref formatting, it's probably the result of several editors having added them, so do correct if you see fit. I've just checked the article edit history. Thanks for conscientiously watching over it. I've had a look at some of your other contributions, including an interesting translation from a German featured article, and think it's time your work was recognised, so I'm awarding you a barnstar (alliteration accidental!). Tyrenius 04:46, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

The Original Barnstar
For consistently conscientious contributions. Tyrenius 04:46, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Added comment re Neaira to DYK. Some of the article is not quite fluent English, but very readable throughout nevertheless. Tyrenius 06:29, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] DYK

Updated DYK query On 15 March 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Neaira (hetaera), which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

[edit] Ohmstede Limited

A tag has been placed on Ohmstede Limited, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Sarc37 18:50, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
