I don't think this is the best title--but I'm not a football fan, or even especially knowledgeable about it, so I'll leave it. But I think it's telling that the title and the subject of the first sentence are not the same. --Koyaanis Qatsi, Friday, July 5, 2002

This is an awful title. It stinks and is completely unnecessary now we can disambiguate. Dead ball (football) for example. If this is to refer to anything, let it refer to people who have died in tragedies at football games, e.g Heysel, Hillsborough. sjc
