[edit] Death Vultures
In the game of Warhammer 40,000 (40k) Space Marines are split up into Chapters. Each Chapter has different Companies within the Chapter. The Chapter named the Death Vultures has six Companies each containing at least one Librarian. The Chapter has a long and glorious History and is currently under the command of Hasmock, who has his own history which will be looked into. The Chapter was not around during the Horus Heresy but created from the gene-seed of the Ultramarines and Black Templars Chapters. The standard Chapter armor is color a earthly green with gold trimming.

[edit] The Beginning
Shortly after the Horus Heresy the Imperium was being bested at all sides be enemy races, horrible aliens and traitors. To combat these threats the Imperium collected the gene-seed of all the parent Chapters. They then used the gene-seed to creates roughly organized minor Chapters at best one hundred strong. Then, with almost no training, the Chapters where spread out across the known galaxy to combat with the enemy. The Death Vultures Chapter was created out of the combined gene-seed of the Ultramarines and Black Templar Chapters. The Death Vultures were sent straight to the Eye of Terror to try and break the back bone of Chaos. The Chapter was pulled out as soon as the Cadian forces got their foot hold on the Eye of Terror. Even though many good men gave their lives in this battle the Death Vultures are not recognized as one of Chapters that fought in this battle, due to the bigger parent Chapters stealing all the glory.
[edit] Battle on Ichnal V
In a terrifying Waagh! the Orks rampaged through the galaxy to the planet of Ichnal V. This world was not only a hive world of the Imperial Guard, but also had vast deposits of oil. The Imperium needed that oil. So did the Orks. The only possible outcome. WAR! The Death Vultures Third company was sent to fight the Orks, deystroy all the Ork oil collectors and collect and least 20,000 gallons of the stuff. It was not an easy battle but it was this one where Hasmock started to shine as he lead 5 man Tactical Squad to the centre of Ork Town (the Ork base) and killed the Warboss BloodaMurda'. Eventually the Orks were driven off Ichnal V, but only 10,000 gallons of oil was retained. Certainly a small blow to the Imperium.
[edit] Fannar II
The Chapter Vanguard of the White Star, was fighting a losing battle against the small but formidable Tyranid fleet, Gargantuan. Although the Death Vultures was already at war against the Tau of the Kin' Shai (Battle For The Warhound Titan, next), managed to spare one squad of Terminators of the Second Company. This contained Brother-Sergeant Maldarn, armed with power sword and storm bolter, Brother Oberon armed with power fist and assault cannon, and Brother Delgait, Demetrius and Lysander, all armed with power fists and storm bolters. This lone squad of Terminator not only survived without incident, but managed to drive of the Tyranid fleet and saved the entire Third Company of the Vanguard of the White Star Chapter.
[edit] Battle For The Warhound Titan
At the time when the Vanguard of the White Star was battling the Tyranids on Fannar II, the Death Vultures were fighting their own battle on the world of Fannar I. A powerful Warhound Titan had fallen in the attempted capturing of the Tau world. Now instead of fighting to capture the world, the Death Vultures were fighting to repair and activate the Titan. In this battle Hasmock also had a key part, for he lead the squad that protected the Techpriests to the Titan. The Techpriest managed to re-activate the Titan, which then destroyed a major Tau city, but was then pulled out and sent to fight in the Battle For Macragge. The Chapter managed to infiltrate the Tau centre of command, but were forced to pull out when the Tau unleashed their own Titan.
