Deal or No Deal (South Africa)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In 2007, M-Net South African launched a version of Deal or No Deal. The show premiered on February 4, 2007, and airs every Sunday at 18:00. South Africa is only the second country in Africa to get its own version of the show, after Tunisia (where it airs on Tunis 7). Radio personality/musician Ed Jordan hosts the show.
The M-Net website reveals that the set is similar to that of the US version, and the values go from as little as one cent to as big as R1,000,000 (one million rand, about US$130,000, €106,000, and £72,000).
On the first episode, the contestant accepted the banker's final offer of R255,000 when the two remaining cases contained R500,000 and R1,000. Thus the final offer was more than the expected value, something that is seen rarely, if not never, on the foreign versions. The contestants case ended up containing R1,000. The board in this version is exactly the same as the USA one only in Rand.
