Deacon Palmer

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Deacon John Palmer is a fictional character on TV's The King of Queens. The character is played by Victor Williams.

Deacon is best friends with Doug Heffernan (Kevin James). He and Doug both work at IPS (International Parcel Service). They work for Supervisor Patrick O'Boyle (Sam McMurray).

Deacon is married to Kelly Palmer (Merrin Dungey). They have two children, Kirby (Marshaun Daniel) and Major. As seen in an episode, Kelly doesn't get along well with Deacon's mother. In the third season, Deacon was caught by Doug having dinner with an old friend, Angie, under suspicious circumstances. Deacon admitted to Doug that he had been seeing Angie on the side without telling Kelly. When this got out to Kelly, she temporarily left him, but eventually came back when he agreed to go to marriage counseling. In the fourth season, Kelly left Deacon because of a conversation she had with Carrie Heffernan, Doug's wife, over needing 'tentpoles' (i.e. strong memories to build a relationship around) for a stable marriage (this was likely due to the fact that Merrin Dungey was about to take on the role of Francie on the show Alias). In season six, Kelly eventually comes back to Deacon.

Deacon's life growing up wasn't that great. His father was always secretly ashamed of him. And "the way your mama slept around, I may not even be your daddy!" says it all.
