Hi Adam: Why did you revert my edit? Which part did you consider illiterate . I merely restructured the article a bit and added an external link and info about her family. I revert it back for now, please let me know your specific complaints, so we can work it out. -- chris_73 00:07, 16 Apr 2004 (UTC)

I am writing articles about all members of the House of Representatives. They conform to a pattern. Other users are of course free to add material, but not to make the existing text ungrammatical and irrelevant sentences:

De-Anne Margaret Kelly (born 21 March 1954) is a member of the Australian House of Representatives for the National Party since March 1996. This sentence is ungrammatical.

She was reelected in 1998 and 2001. This sentence is irrelevant. Obviously if she was elected in 1996 she has been re-elected since.

She is representing the Division of Dawson, Queensland. This sentence is ungrammatical.

She was born in Rockhampton, Queensland, and was educated at the University of Queensland. She was a business proprietor, cattle producer and sugar-cane farmer before entering politics.

Ms. Kelly is married to her husband Roger and has a son Ian, named after her late father. This sentence is trivial, and we don't use personal titles like "Ms".

Kelly has been Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Transport and Regional Services and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Trade since October 2003.

OK, step by step now for each sentence:

  1. First sentence: Not sure what exactly is ungrammatical, but either way is fine by me.
  2. She was reelected in 1998 and 2001 People sometimes DO lose office, and then get elected again.
  3. What is the grammatical difference between She is representing the Division of Dawson, Queensland (my version) and ... representing the Division of Dawson, Queensland (your version)?
  4. She was born in Rockhampton ... OK by both of us.
  5. Ms. Kelly is married... Not trivial, but biographical information. Ms can be changed, no problem.
  6. Last sentence OK again.

Summary: If you insist on your structure, then that is fine by me. Yet I think your text is as ungrammatical as mine, although I think both are not bad. Finally: Marriage status and Reelections are information that can be included in a encyclopedia. I'll let your article stand and add only the marriage & reelection info. Is this acceptable for you? -- chris_73 00:39, 16 Apr 2004 (UTC)

If you can't see that De-Anne Margaret Kelly (born 21 March 1954) is a member of the Australian House of Representatives for the National Party since March 1996 is ungrammatical you shouldn't be editing an encyclopaedia. It should read De-Anne Margaret Kelly (born 21 March 1954) has been a member of the Australian House of Representatives for the National Party since March 1996. Adam 01:01, 16 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Comment about grammar of first sentence accepted, comment about "... shouldn't be editing an encyclopaedia" ignored. Calm down. I think we ended up with an article that is better now than it was before. Current version is fine for me. I also added a redirect from her full name. -- chris_73 01:13, 16 Apr 2004 (UTC)
