Deák Ferenc tér (Deák Ferenc Square) is a transfer station on the blue M3 (North-South) line of the Budapest Metro. The station is located just north of the eponymous square, under Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Road. Until the completion of metro line M4, it remains the only transfer station on the line. One can transfer to lines M1 and M2 to stations that bear the same name.

Owing to its direct transfer connections to the other two metro lines and its downtown location, it is one of the busiest stations on the line.

The station was the northern terminus for the first segment of the line completed in 1976 (to Nagyvárad tér), and has switches and a pullback track in a middle tunnel at its northern end. This track does not terminate; it descends underground and curves more than 180° west to join the pullback track of Deák Ferenc tér on the M2 line. This non-revenue connection tunnel was the means of suppling rolling stock to line M3 from 1976 until it was completed to Kőbánya-Kispest and the adjacent new depot in 1980.

[edit] Connections
