[edit] Exclusion from the federal budget
Dcmacnut, the statement you removed from the House Committee on the Budget's article was technically correct as some programs are not included in the budget, including several approriations made for the war in Iraq. The statement probably needs to be reworded, but the point of the statement was factual. --Daysleeper47 20:59, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] List of House and Senate Committee counterparts
The following tables lists only those committee counterparts in the House and Senate, based on the major area(s) of jurisdiction in each committee. Some committee jurisdictions diverge on just one or two sub-issues, for example jurisdiction over federal holidays lies with the Judiciary Committee in the Senate, but is handled by the Oversight and Government Reform Committee in the House.

*Democratic Caucus rules provide two standards for the Energy and Commerce Committee. It is a non-exclusive commitee for members that served on the committee prior to the 104th Congress, and is an exclusive committee for members that first served on the panel during and after the 104th Congress.

[edit] Committees and Caucuses
There are three different types of articles that cover current congressional committees.
- Standing Committees
- Cat:Committees of the United States House of Representatives
- Cat:Committees of the United States Senate
- Subcommittees
- Cat:Subcommittees of the United States House of Representatives
- Cat:Subcommittees of the United States Senate
- Joint Committees
- Defunt Committees
- Cat:Defunct committees of the United States House of Representatives
- Category:Defunct committees of the United States Senate
- Cat:Defunct joint committees of the United States Congress
There are two types of defunct committees including in Wikipedia
- Historical committees
- Committees that were either abolished or had their ‘’’major’’’ jurisdiction merged with a modern committee
- In general, historical committees should have their own articles explaining the creation and life of the committee and its members. A brief summary should also be included in the modern successor committee, if one exists, as appropriate.
- Renamed committees
- Committees that have seen name changes or ‘’’minor’’’ jurisdictional changes
- In general, these should be redirects to the current committee name and not a separate article. Brief summary of the name changes should be included in the target committee article.
