Actress, born in Los Angeles, California, USA, the daughter of actor Jon Voight. At age 11 she attended the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute and later studied at New York University. She gained her first film lead role in Hackers (1995), and later films include Gia (1998, Best Actress Golden Globe), The Bone Collector (1999), Girl, Interrrupted (1999, Golden Globe; Best Supporting Actress Oscar), Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001, sequel 2003), and Alexander (2004). She appeared opposite Brad Pitt in Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2005. Jolie has two adopted children; a son, Maddox, and a daughter, Zahara Marley. She and Pitt are expecting a child in summer.
