Disaster: Day of Crisis is a videogame currently in development by Monolith Soft to be published by Nintendo for the Wii as part of their initiative to create new franchises for Nintendo.

It is a survival game, where the basic object is to live through various natural disasters, and escape alive. According to Nintendo, the game will feature "Cutting-edge physics and gripping visuals" to re-create the sheer terror of major catastrophes. [1]

[edit] Plot

Disaster, according to the official Nintendo website, includes an earthquake, a volcanic eruption, and a tsunami. Game functions include driving, survival, and foot missions.

Similar to Agetec's Disaster Report and its sequel, Raw Danger, the player must survive many natural disasters. The player will take control of Ray, a former member of an elite rescue task force, and not only will Ray have to face nature, but also an unknown group of rogues who have taken advantage of the catastrophic events and seized an atomic weapon.

[edit] Gameplay

New footage of the game shown at Nintendo World shows Ray in a third-person shooting mode. After careful review, it also seems that he has an infinite clip on his pistol, possibly meaning multiple equippable weapons and/or a heavier basis on shooting combat.

In the January issue of Nintendo Power also revealed a new gameplay screenshot depicting Ray running while the bridge he is on collapsing. Under the bridge is a large lava flow, supposedly from a volcano that has erupted near the city. After careful review, it is shown that there is a time limit to the game, or at least the section/level.
