[edit] Locations

Most of Days of the New Schoolyard was shot at Mount Tamborine High School. There is only one scene which was not filmed there (the date scene). It was filmed in the dining area of Abrakidazzle, a childrens play center

[edit] Trivia

The script was written by a 14 year old man (Zane Bryant) and a 15 year old man Scott Wilton

Jack Palmer was originally cast as Jock One however he had other duties to attend to during the shooting. He was back in time for the shooting of the dinner scene, therefore he was cast as the waiter. Peter Van Velsen filled in for Palmer. Van Velsen had no acting experience.

The cast and crew of Days of the New Schoolyard spent 11 hours filming on set, and achieved 8 minutes on screen.

Zane Bryant (writer/actor) owns his own film production company called a bz production. To view his side projects see URL: www.youtube.com/bzproduction. He is also in a band called Black Velvet: www.myspace.com/blackvelvetlocals. He is currently touring the Gold Coast with his 4 piece band. Zane is about 5 ft and 6 inches. He likes to listen to music and go for long walks on the beach. For all the Ladies out there, I'm free.....ummmmm im mean Zane is currently free.

Nerd One (Jordan Underwood) and Nerd Two (Zane Bryant) both wore inappropriate pants for filming. Underwood wore jeans and Bryant wore dark pants covered in outlined imagery. Their characters would not wear these to school, therefore, between each scene, the jocks (Scott Wilton and Peter Van Velsen) and the nerds were forced to swap pants. For the all in scene nearing the end of the short film, Van Velsen can be seen wearing jeans.

The short film was premiered at Ashmore State School. 150 tickets were sold.

The location for the romantic dinner scene is a children's play center called Abrakidazzle.

This was a Gold Coast Youth Theatre Academy/Caldwell Entertainment production. Most of the actors and some of the behind the scenes workers are students in the GCYTA.

Rosealie Rossiter and Kellie Rossiter (Producers) are the teachers for the GCYTA.

Steven Caldwell (Director) and Joshua Stafford (Actor) are previous students of the GCYTA.
