Dayak is an Indonesian word often used in reference to the native people of Indonesia who live in remote or tribal areas. The original meaning of the word is "native". It is used by more Westernised Indonesians to refer to the local tribesmen ("orang dayak", or native people) or their language ("bahasa dayak", or native tongue).
