The Day Fire is the fifth largest fire in California history. The fire started on Labor Day, September 4, 2006 and as of October 1, 2006, the fire had burned over 162,700 acres, cost $70.3 million and at one point, had 4,600 active firefighters. [1] It was completely contained on October 13. [2]
