Dawn Swann (previously went by the name of Miller) is a fictional character in the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders. She is played by Kara Tointon, and has appeared since 26 September 2005.

[edit] Description

Dawn is the daughter of Rosie Miller and Mike Swann. Her father deserted the family when she was very young, but she never gave up hope that she might meet him someday. Dawn left her family at the age of 16, so that she could travel. In France, she met Mike and introduced him to her brother (and Mike's son) Mickey. She returned to Walford with Mickey and conned the residents into paying for her to have breast implants by claiming that she needed the money for an operation for a medical condition.

Dawn has on many occasions expressed aversion at being referred to as Dawn Miller, most probably a result of her dislike for step-father Keith - the father of her youngest siblings Darren and Demi.

Despite both Jake Moon and Deano Wicks attempting to flirt with her, Dawn also had her eye on the Square's new doctor, Oliver Cousins for a while.

Whilst looking for perfume she thought her half brother Darren had taken, Dawn came across some money. She confronted Darren about this, and he confessed he had found it in a bin and stolen it, later finding out that it belonged to Jake Moon. Darren was sharing it with twin sister Demi, and Dawn insisted they split the money three ways, otherwise she would tell Rosie. Dawn used the money to print up T-shirts for Gus Smith's campaign to free his dog, Wellard, which had been impounded for biting Ian Beale.

When Dawn's grandmother Nora Swann was ill, Dawn invited her father Mike to stay with the family for a while, and he slept on the sofa where Darren had hidden the money. Mike discovered the money and stole it from them, suggesting to Keith that he buy a new sofa and they put the old one on the bonfire. Keith did so and Dawn, Darren and Demi, thinking the money was still inside, were horrified to discover the sofa on the bonfire.

After her grandmother died, her father returned, and got Dawn involved in a scam to get Nora's money. Nora had left £5000 to Rosie, but Mike persuaded Dawn to pose as Rosie to get the money from Nora's carer, Kitty. Mike had told Dawn that he was going to start a new life in Spain for himself and Rosie, but in reality he had only booked a one-way ticket to Spain for himself. Dawn, Rosie and Mickey found out at the last minute, and Rosie gave the money to Mike on the condition that he never come back.

Dawn made contact with a modelling agency, but they turned her down because she was too tall and too old. Dawn thought her boob job would increase her chances but the modelling agent said they were looking for something more natural.

Dawn's hopes were raised when Kevin Wicks offered her a job as a model but all he wanted her to do was hand out leaflets. His daughter Carly saw Dawn throw the leaflets in the bin, and the pair ended up fighting, with Carly hitting Dawn. They have since made up and become friends.

Dawn was roped into one of Ian Beale's schemes, posing as his wife Jane to Ian's business associates from the WCCT committee. Ian paid her a large sum of money and bought her a silver bracelet for her trouble. Dawn then started dating a member of the WCCT, Rob Minter. Dawn later found out that Rob was married to the new Walford GP, May Wright, with whom Dawn had become friends, although Rob and May were separated when Dawn started dating him. Dawn is now pregnant by Rob but she has agreed to sell the baby to May for £19,000 but she is continuously asking for more money.
