A visiting professor of communication at SUNY Oswego with an extreme interest in the variety and mechanics of human communication systems (communication media) and a history of building implementations of new media. These interests have resulted in a variety of papers that can be accessed on the web. Davis operates a variety of web sites, including a personal web site, a business home page, and a public wiki on which he maintains lecture notes for his students (that supports an alternate view for classroom display), the web site of the Human Communication and Technology Division of the National Communication Association, and a web portal for people with the last name "Foulger".
